It is true that less and less folks are smoking cigarettes nowadays but an engraved lighter from Zippo is still a superb present idea. Everyone knows that giving up, or better yet, never beginning is better for somebody’s health than smoking. But those that still opt to smoke cigarettes, cigars or pipes would adore a Zippo lighter as a gift!

Since 1932, Zippo lighters have been famous and highly respected as the best lighters available. They are the sole lighters possessing a lifetime guarantee. By selecting these fine lighters as gifts for those special folks that love them, you’ll be giving a present built to last an entire life. Some Zippo products are even wind-proof. When Zippo makes a wind-proof product, they are serious about it working even in the highest winds.

Whether wind-proof or not, new or old, a Zippo collector is always pleased to add another Zippo chrome lighter to the collection. Zippos have been made in so many designs. Zippo even creates lighters commemorating space launches and gives one of these to each astronaut returning from space. Advertisers have long used Zippo products to “brand” their goods. There’s a sports series for sports fans also. Older Zippos can be discovered in antique shops, flea markets, online sources and at yard sales.

An old Zippo makes an excellent gift. But if you do not have the time or desire to search for an older lighter, purchase one of the latest models as a present concept that will continue to be much appreciated by the Zippo collector.

Thinking of present ideas is always a struggle.

When it comes to great present concepts, I have about as much imagination as a hamster. It’s wierd, truly. I am what you’d call a “natural” when it comes to shopping. I like to buy.  There’s even a day each Spring when wedding dresses sell so cheaply that scuffles break out in the aisles. I favor my shopping nonviolent. But still, the possibility of a great store full of unexplored “stuff” is more exciting to me than a giant Easter Egg hunt is to the average 5 years old. I know I am going to find Easter Eggs ( i.e, “hidden treasures” ). I just have to reveal their secret tiny hiding places.

That is part of the fun! I have one little problem, though… Shopping is only fun if I am not attempting to find anything especially. As quickly as there is a “list” concerned, it starts to feel a bit like work! Add in the assumption that I am on the lookout for some really special item for somebody else, and the pressure’s actually on.

Present Shopping. Arrrghh! Where are all those clever present ideas when I need them? Where are they ever? Panic sets in. Time wasting comes next. Pretty shortly I have buried the entire thing in my subconscious, hoping it’ll “just go away”. It does not, naturally. Like college examinations and work cut offs, gift-giving occasions keep on coming — necessarily and much too regularly. And those excellent gift concepts remain as evasive as ever. So what’s an individual to do? My response was always to get a huge pot of coffee and pull an all-nighter. Umm, I mean, I’d wait till the very end and then shop till the stores closed. Sure, I’d manage to come up with some decent present concepts and some passable gifts. But it’s no way to live.

I contemplated my case for ages ( years ), and ultimately I knew what I had to do. My task was to transform myself into the type of sorcerer who could produce fab present ideas and lovely gifts at the drop of a hat. It has been a long and painful journey, but I’m pleased to report a measure of success. Finally, I will look a gift-giving occasion straight in the eye and say, “Hah!! You are not so tough!” My 2 most impressive weapons are my “gift closet” and my “little black book”. The present closet is stocked with a selection of present boxes, gift bags, wrapping paper, tissue paper, and colourful ribbons and bows. There are masses of tiny gift vouchers, as well as greeting cards starting from Vacation themes to Sympathy to New Baby. In addition, I have assembled quite a range of gifts-for-any-occasion. The “little black book” is just what it sounds like, only it is not stuffed with telephone numbers. Instead I note down passing notes based totally on what I study folks. If somebody touches on a pastime or collection, it is going in the black book. If they hint at something they are just dying to have, it is going in the book. If I see a fondness for a certain sort of jewellery or style of dress, I will make a note of it.

Until you have heard the ping of a well hit golfing ball, you may observe the game as a purposeless obsession that is taking up acres of space. But there should be something in it. Why else would anyone spend each spare hour on the fairways, no matter the weather. Is it to proudly occupy the number 1 spot in the lightning strike charts? All things considered, it isn’t our place to ask such queries. So if your “old man” is a golfer, now could be a fine time to give him some golf gifts which will either help his game or remind him of it when he is doing other stuff … In case he is not already thinking about methods to improve his golf swing.

Golf is a sport that relies heavily on inventive small devices that augment the player’s experience, and they just happen to make great Pa’s Day Gifts too. Top of the list needs to be our golfing ball monogrammer, which can print 3 letters onto all his golfing balls so he’ll never get into a debate about whose ball is in the bunker. We also have a quality digital scorer and tee set ( note : not a tea set ) to make him the envy of all those beating him hole after hole. Jokes and puzzles may not right away spring to mind in a game whose pros infrequently display much in the way of humor, particularly with folk who are careless enough to splutter as they are lining up a shot. But there definitely is fun available on the golfing course. Exploding golfing balls, anyone? Flat-topped tees?

For more thirsty moments, how about some really nice golf coolers to keep your beverages cold?

I have a neice who’s getting married and she is just at the beginning of her wedding planning process.  Truth be told, she only just got engaged the other weekend.  And she’s not getting married until May a year from now so she has plenty of time to create her budget and manage all the myriad of details that comes with a wedding.

My neice has 3 sisters who will all be in the wedding.  And she’s got a lot of friends as well so I’m expecting a large wedding party.   Bridesmaid gifts alone will be significant and, of course, she wants phat bridesmaid gifts please.

I like to shop for all my wedding supplies over at Eye Candy Gift.  Their wedding shop has just about everything a gal could want for her wedding - including bridesmaid gifts.  So if you are planning a wedding, consider heading over that way and check them out.  You won’t be disapponted.

Organizing a marriage and creating a fairytale wedding is hard enough with no need to think about to whom you will be giving gifts. Of course, you have the marriage rite to plan, a reception hall to embellish and the ideal dress to find. But, it is important that you tell each one of the special members of your marriage party how much their presence means to you. In fact, they’ve spent their money and time to help make sure that you’ve got the perfect marriage day.

To begin with you may want to consider gifting the parents of the bride and groom.  This is a rising trend as couples have been revering both sets of folks with a special present, presented to them at the reception. The present should be unique, and selected just for them but does not need to be pricey. To make the best impression, don’t give each set of folks the same item.

Secondly, tradition would have you selecting a  wedding gift for your partner or better half to be.  This gift given on teh day of the wedding, should something private that talks to their heart. You should be talking about that gift on your fiftieth marriage anniversary.

Next there is the matter of your bridal party.  For the bridesmaid gifts and groomsmen gifts it is acceptable to select something related to your marriage theme.  Those tiny ones who take part in your wedding should not get left out of the marriage present giving. Depending on their age, you might give the flower girl or ring bearer special toys, small girl jewellery, or maybe special souvenirs of the celebration. If anybody else took part in your marriage, be certain to include them in your marriage present giving.

With this checklist, you’ll be sure you don’t overlook all the great people who are helping though the wedding planning process and stand with you on your wedding day.

My fiancé is a golf fanatic.  He is insanely talented with the sport and comes home, weekly, with new clubs and gear to improve his game.  While my fiancé is a talented golfer and lover of the sport, he is not a tidy one.  When we first moved in together last year, I noticed that he, as many bachelors do, left piles of clutter everywhere.  After a few weeks of tolerating dirty golf shoes on  my new carpet, and clubs strewn all about the living room, I realized that we needed some way to contain his clubs and enthusiasm: at least in the house.

Desperate for a solution, I turned to the internet.  I found an incredible piece of equipment in the Golf Travel Bags and Cases section of The Golf Collection.  The metal Golf Organizer shelf was the perfect solution to my problem.  I purchased it and placed it just inside the door of our mud room.  Now when he comes inside, he can place his clubs in each of the standing side holders and his muddy shoes on the bottom of five shelves to hold miscellaneous equipment.

I am absolutely thrilled that I found a quality storage unit that he finds so easy to use, that he never leaves his golf stuffs about anymore.  If you are shopping for golf travel bags and cases be sure to visit The Golf Collection.

Personalize This Christmas!

Personalize This Christmas!

The holidays are usually memorable periods of a person’s life because of what the holiday brings. It brings senses of joy, love, thanks, and happiness. One of the favorite holidays, especially among kids, is Christmas because of the gift giving. Gift are traditionally given among families and friends to show that they care. Most businesses have expanded their inventory to include special Christmas items. One such item that will be sure to leave its mark in the memory of its recipient is a Christmas photo ornament.

The Christmas photo ornament found on eyecandygift.com would be a great gift for anyone who treasures memories. This ornament is actually a photo frame that can be hung in a tree. If you want to give someone a memory, what better way is there to do it then to give them a photograph? This would be perfect to remind someone of a funny moment in their past or a happy moment that they shouldn’t forget. Not only is it a photograph frame, but it can also be engraved. The tarnish free, stainless steel frame can include up to two lines of text underneath the photograph. Maybe you want to put a caption for the photo or simply put a general salutation of love. If you’ve run out of ideas for Christmas gifts, this will certainly do the trick.

The Pave Engagement Ring Style

Before my husband and I got engaged, we started talking about engagement ring settings and styles (he wanted me to pick out exactly what I wanted). I wanted something unique, antique-looking, and not outrageously expensive. I wanted a princess cut diamond. After looking at pictures, we came across a style with the main diamond in the middle and smaller stones surrounding it. We didn’t know what this style was called, but were immediately in love with it. After doing some research, we found out that the style is a “pave” setting (pronounced “pah-vay).

The pave setting not only creates a stunning look, but does it less expensively. Many engagement rings these days have three large diamonds, which looks gorgeous, but can get very expensive if you actually buy good quality diamonds (based on color, cut, carat, etc). With the pave setting, your ring has multiple diamonds that shine beautifully, but you’re really only paying the high price for the main diamond. Having learned all of these things, my husband went to the local jewelry store and found the most unique, antique-looking, princess cut diamond ring with 16 smaller diamonds surrounding it.

Everywhere I go, people grab my hand to get a closer look, which always is followed by, “Your ring is beautiful.” I am so proud of this ring I keep it in my favorite jewelry box when I’m not wearing it.

Do you have a friend who loves candy? I do and recently got her a proper candy jar for her goodies. You see she was bringing candy to work in bags and didn’t have any place to display it.

I found this personalizable glass jar that I could get engraved with her name and a short saying. It looks like an old fashioned apothecary jar. She loved it.

I think bringing a bit of creativity into our gift buying efforts is so important. Rather than just any old gift like a lotion from a nice boutique, this gift conveyed that I thought enough to get her something personal to her life. It doesn’t usually take much and gift personalized can add that special touch.

There are few ‘gotta have’ items in my life. I guess I’m a bit of a simple girl. But one exception I’ve made recently is with EyeCandyGift.com’s Metro Tote Bag. This bag is a must have for me because I travel a bit and within the fairly voluminous interior I can place my laptop, my purse, my keys, my Palm Treo and my cosmetic case. So when I travel I have everything I must have in this ‘must have’ tote bag.

Here’s the scoop on this tote. It’s a generous 17 ½â€? x 12â€? x 7 ½â€? (now you see how I can get all my stuff in there) and sports a traditional black and tan exterior. I had it monogrammed so even at a distance I know my own bag. This makes a stylish alternative for the female executive who’s tired of the ubiquitous black leather brief cases and travel bags. And it’s very affordable!

Let’s face it - almost all women love jewelry. We do. It makes us feel special - a little better than someone else - a little more loved than someone else. I’m not saying we’re mature on this issue ‘cuz we are not. But it’s a fact we love jewelry.

More than that, we love personalized jewelry. Why? Because when you take the time to engrave it with a message or our initials it means you took that extra step. You didn’t just go to the store and pay for it, you THOUGHT about it which means you thought about us. And we like that!

Wildly Romantic Gifts for Her this Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day don’t just ‘phone it in’ with flowers. Oh sure, we gals really like a dozen roses but if that’s that standard gift every Valentine’s Day it kind of loses it’s luster. This year take a little time to get her something personal. A wonderful jewelry gift is really fine.

Now you can spend a fortune getting us a diamond necklace from somewhere like Zales Jewelers but you can get by with far less. Consider a sterling silver engraved heart necklace. That will capture her heart - I promise!

But if she’s not jewelry inclined, consider her lifestyle choices. If she’s a real sports nut and loves to watch the games with you, consider a pink leather koozie complete with engraving. Now that’s a fun and personal gift she’ll love.

Truth is if you just think about what she loves to do a gift is almost always close at hand. And it’s not yet too late to get a personalized gift ordered online. So no excuses guys. ;-)

I love jewelry boxes. Maybe because I love jewelry and need a place to keep it all in. ;-)
Anyway depsite the underlying driving force behind my interest I have a collection of jewelry boxes that I love to display. I have jewelry boxes made of wood and leather and crystal but my favorite is a little rectangle silver jewelry box that has my name on it. I keep my favorite rings in this one. I’ve always loved gleaming silver and this one has pretty pink velvet lining that frankly brings out my girly side.

Yes my little silver jewelry box is my favorite. A special item dear to me. Funny how little things sometimes give us the greatest pleasure.

Groomsmen Gift Ideas

I have a grown son in his twenties and recently his best friend became engaged. Fun to see this next generation start out their lives. Anyway, John (the friend) has to go out and select some gifts for his groomsmen. He’s not sure what to select and came to me (we own a retail store that does personalization of gifts).

Often guys get their best dudes something engraved like a money clip or set of cufflinks. Cuff links are especially nice because they can be used to dress up a tuxedo for the day of the wedding and is an item that most young men never buy themselves. Other gifts that are popular are engraved pocket knives and flasks or even an embroidered golf towel.

But if none of these more traditional gifts appeal to you, consider something more upbeat like a leather ipod case personalized with is initials or monogram.

Regardless of the gift, it’s the thought that counts. Weddings are stressful enough without worrying too much about a gift for your best man and grooms attendents.

Bored with Winter…

It happens every year about this time.  Late February I just get sick of winter.  Too much cold, no green grass, no flowers - mostly just a brown landscape. So I often spend time with the plant catalogs that get sent to my home.  I find the colors and hues of flowers just as sparkling as any jewel.

Of course they don’t last that long.  Maybe that’s why I love gems so much.  Tons of colors, a depth of color that just speaks of firey passions or dark secrets.

Anyway, I’d write longer but I have a new catalog to look at this morning.  And the weatherman says the temperature will move up today.  So spring can’t be far behind.  Life is good!

Valentine’s Day: Who needs Jewels when You have a Romantic Man?

I’m always taken back by a lot of the hullabaloo that goes on with Valentine’s Day.  Don’t get me wrong, I love flowers as much as the next gal but I don’t feel that if I don’t get them on Valentines I am unloved.  Same with chocolates, by the way.

This year Valentines day happened to be a day we had a parent/teacher set of conferences to go to for our younger son in the early evening hours.  Now I suppose we could have been sophisticated and scheduled a late dinner but we both had to get up the next day and with the demands of family and jobs, didn’t want to be out till midnight.

It seems like everyday mundane experiences are a real romance killer.

Or are they?

Well after the teacher’s conference we decide to go out and have dinner at the ‘not too great but always open’ Village Inn.  Well, one modest dinner later, we are about to go when my husband get’s a light in his eye and says he’ll win me the best Valentine’s day present ever!

Seems like this Village Inn has one of those ’see if you can fish it out’ claw type devices.  You know the ones sure to take your money because they have developed product placement in those boxes into an art form.

So my husband goes at it.  First he tries to win me a Nascar  pillow (I am no Nascar fan but it seemed like the most likely item to win) and failing that he goes for a lavender colored bear wearing a tutu.

Well he didn’t win that either and a couple dollars lighter in his pants pockets, gives up.  So did I end up empty handed this Valentines day?  NO WAY.  You should have heard us giggling and laughing away as my husband tried to master the claw.  Man against machine with machine having the clear upper hand.  A night of delightful laughter is better than a dozen roses any day.

And there were no dinner dishes to clean.

Yep, about as good as it gets.  Another set of precious memories to add to my scrapbook of life.

Nancy
