Before my husband and I got engaged, we started talking about engagement ring settings and styles (he wanted me to pick out exactly what I wanted). I wanted something unique, antique-looking, and not outrageously expensive. I wanted a princess cut diamond. After looking at pictures, we came across a style with the main diamond in the middle and smaller stones surrounding it. We didn’t know what this style was called, but were immediately in love with it. After doing some research, we found out that the style is a “pave” setting (pronounced “pah-vay).

The pave setting not only creates a stunning look, but does it less expensively. Many engagement rings these days have three large diamonds, which looks gorgeous, but can get very expensive if you actually buy good quality diamonds (based on color, cut, carat, etc). With the pave setting, your ring has multiple diamonds that shine beautifully, but you’re really only paying the high price for the main diamond. Having learned all of these things, my husband went to the local jewelry store and found the most unique, antique-looking, princess cut diamond ring with 16 smaller diamonds surrounding it.

Everywhere I go, people grab my hand to get a closer look, which always is followed by, “Your ring is beautiful.” I am so proud of this ring I keep it in my favorite jewelry box when I’m not wearing it.
